Shining our first #RGSpotlight on the woman behind it all, Roberta Gomes

For founder and CEO Roberta Gomes, every day is a good hair day. The Brazilian-born visionary seems to navigate family, faith, and work seamlessly, all while making a global impact in style. Having two successful, internationally-recognized companies is all in a day’s job for this boss babe. 

We sat down with the commander-in-chief herself and talked roots, hair, and beyond:

What were you like as a little girl? 

I was always very adventurous and outgoing. A leader even as a little girl. 

What made you decide you wanted to do hair? 

I was a single mother of 4 and had to find a career that would pay my bills but something I could do without necessarily having a college degree. (I didn’t even graduate high school from being pregnant so young!) I always loved doing hair, so I decided to bet on it and see if I was any good… turns out, I was great at it! 

When did you start doing hair?  

 22-23 years ago

How did you start? 

I started it with my father and sisters, initially. We were all involved. We started in our garage! Hand-filling our products, putting labels by hand, and involving everyone in the family (yes, even our kids!) in the process. 

How has RG Cosmetics grown?

We are now a global company, selling in more than 18 countries, with a team bigger than I could have ever imagined. We have multiple brands and are expanding.

What’s your favorite part of working with RG Cosmetics?

Being able to help so many others fulfill their purpose and destiny. RG now has a team of about 95% women and it is so amazing to see incredible, strong women working towards their careers and goals.
